9 Years of Chick Chick Coop: A Homestead Dream in the Making

As we celebrate nine years with Chick Chick Coop, I can’t help but reflect on how far we’ve come—and how deeply grateful I am that we finally said yes to this slower, simpler life. There were years we were too busy to even imagine a homestead. Life was meetings, deadlines, soccer practice, and late-night dinners from drive-thrus. But now? Now our mornings begin with the soft cluck of hens, kids running barefoot through dew-soaked grass, and the satisfaction of building something lasting with our own hands.

We often wonder what it would’ve been like to start this journey earlier. But maybe it came right on time—when we were finally ready to appreciate it. The land, the quiet, the rhythm of seasons, and the joy of passing this way of life to our grandkids… this is legacy. And as Chick Chick Coop enters its ninth year, we’re not just building coops anymore—we’re building a life, one full of purpose, laughter, and love.
